The international exhibition DYSFASHIONAL announced a renewed version to be installed between Paris and Berlin in 2009-2010. In 2008 the exhibition took place at the Mudac, Musée du Design et des Arts Appliqués Contemporains de Lausanne and in 2007 – in Luxembourg to celebrate the European Capital of Culture. The exhibition, which will be presented at the Passage du Désir in Paris in 2009 and at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin in 2010, will showcase a selection of pieces from the previous editions as well as a series of new productions by designers and artists from both Paris and Berlin.

Выставка “DYSFASHIONAL” – не совсем обычная. Да, она посвящена моде, но коллекций одежды вы на ней не увидите. Задумка организаторов в том, чтобы посмотреть на моду с иной стороны, подойти к ней с точки зрения эстетической концепции, которая значит намного больше, чем очередной набор костюмов и аксессуаров. DYSFASHIONAL собрал самых креативных фэшн-дизайнеров для того, чтобы они выразили свое ощущение мира моды, свою вселенную. Вот уже два года они успешно справляются с этой задачей при помощи видео-инсталляций, танцевальных постановок, арт-объектов и интерактивных представлений. Первая подобная выставка была организована в Люксембурге в 2007 году, затем последовала выставка в Лозанне и, наконец,  в этом году – в Париже, а в следующем – в Берлине. Местом проведения DYSFASHIONAL в Париже стало место Le Passage du Désir (не путать с одноименным секс-шопом!), огромный зал прощадью 700 m², грубый неотесанный интерьер которого притягивает к себе парижскую богему уже не первый год.

Devoted to fashion, the exhibition DYSFASHIONAL does not display clothes. DYSFASHIONAL considers fashion in the widest sense of the word. Instead it presents all those materials that make fashion a device for self-representation and identity migration.

In the title Dys-fashional, the prefix “dys” indicates a disturbance, a discord within the system. The idea at the outset was to verify the dysfunctional dimension of fashion, that is to say, the elements that resist and clash with a “literal” definition of this world, as a simple collection of garments and accessories, as a production system for commercial objects, images and products to do with identity.

The idea was therefore to turn the principles upside down and invite fashion designers to present, not their collections, but installations expressing their own world, their imagination. This year contributors are: Bless, Hussein Chalayan, Pierre Hardy & Damien Blottiere, Item Idem, Maison Martin Margiela, Antonio Marras, Mathieu Mercier, Justin Morin & Billie Mertens, Kostas Murkudis, Raf Simons, Michael Sonteg, Sissel Tolaas, Marc Turlan, Bernhard Willhelm & Christophe Hamaide-Pierson, Gaspard Yurkievitch.

The project will be completed by PARASITE, a hybrid space somewhere between shop and gallery, devoted to emerging artists and designers who explore the boundaries of contemporary fashion, and P.S, a show which invites choreographers to transfigure the posture imposed by clothes: the performance becomes a means to reveal how clothing shapes the body, determines our gestures and defines our identity.
