I guess you’ve already overdosed with Galliano face in your news feeds these days? I’ll save you from it. All I want to say is that this scandal seems to be too far-fetched, smells like a well-acted PR for Dior. Drunk Galliano just gave an appropriate occasion to sack him. As a result – Dior rises its reputation and client loyalty, Galliano is out, but who cares? Cruel game. Don’t you think that if Dior really needed Galliano on board it would allow this scandal to be spreaded and savoured by all medias?

About two months ago I met Alexey Gabilo, we were drinking coffee and talking. He said the upcoming collection would be made of unusual materials like meteorites splinters and rare minerals. I was so impressed by his stories and his enthusiasm as well as his previous collections so I was looking forward to see the new one.

And what I see now is above any expectations. It’s simply awesome!

Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence + The Machine has partnered with Talenthouse and Lucky Magazine to open a world wide search for fashion designers with the aim of helping designers further their careers in fashion and provide them with world wide exposure. The creative invite found on Talenthouse asks fashion designers to design a stage outfit for Florence that she will wear for her performance at Terminal 5 in New York on Nov. 2, 2010.

The selected designer will also be featured in LuckyMag.com with images of Florence wearing the outfit, $500, air fare to New York, two night’s accommodation at Soho House NY and the opportunity to meet Florence and theband backstage to receive a signed copy of her debut album, Lungs.

The editor-in-chief of Russia’s most respected fashion magazine, Alyona Doletskaya, is leaving her post, Condé Nast International’s president informed Tuesday. Doletskaya has headed Russian Vogue since 1998 when it was launched, and is now leaving her post of her own free will.

Alyona Doletskaya graduated from the Philology Faculty of Moscow State University and later did her doctoral thesis at Oxford. She has also published several translations of books by Ray Bradbury and William Faulkner.
In the early 1990s, Doletskaya turned her professional interests towards media and PR. After working as a reporter and producer with several European media organizations, Alyona Doletskaya was appointed PR Director at the British Council in Russia. Working there, she successfully carried out several cultural projects, including the “Living Bridges” exhibition of the Royal Academy at the Tretyakov Gallery and “Treasures of the Tower” joint exhibition in the Kremlin and the Tower of London.
In 1998, she was asked to head Vogue Russia, which was the first quality glossy magazine in the country. During the 12 long years under Doletskaya, Vogue proved to be the most authoritative fashion magazine in Russia.

I’m so sorry I’ve been away for such a long time!  You know it’s Fashion Weeks crazy time . We’ve got them two – Volvo Fashion Week and Russian Fashion Week. I got a lot of impressions, I met interesting people like Mark Eley and Hywel Davies.

Seminar-presentation ‘Discover Tuscan Fashion’ will be held in Moscow on February 26, as a part of international fashion fair ‘Collection Première Moscow’. “The fashion world may be enamored with bloggers — but not when they post future advertising images without permission. Images from the spring-summer campaigns from the likes of Dior, Balenciaga, Celine and others have been circulating on Modelinia, Fashionologie and other sites this week, ahead of their appearances in February magazines, causing puzzlement and consternation at some design houses.

Fingers have also been pointed at the new blog of Love magazine, which acknowledged some ads — including those of Loewe and Givenchy — were posted with the blessing of designers, while others were snatched from fellow blogs. “This was a genuine human error, made in enthusiasm, and it was certainly never our intention to upset anyone, in particular designers we hold in such high esteem,” Love editor in chief Katie Grand said, assuring “practical steps have been taken to ensure no unauthorized campaign content can appear on the blog at any point in the future.” WWD

Come on, we’re already in the XXI century, it’s impossible to ignore possibilities of the digital world, you don’t have to take offence at it, you have to use it. Magazines and newspapers will never be the first again. It’s essential to create a place for luxury in the internet that could easily replace glossy sheets. And it would be better to let people download hi-res ads from the official site than compain about moire and overcompressed 300×150 pictures that can’t really convey the spirit of luxury.
